Populated by more than 1.8 million residents from over 60 different cultural groups, Vancouver is the third largest city in Canada. Located 26 miles northwest of the United States border, Vancouver is considered a major Pacific Coast seaport while being the foremost commercial, manufacturing, financial, tourist and cultural center of British Columbia. With over 176 parks in the city, Vancouverites are proudest of their 1,000 acre Stanley Park, located on the tip of the peninsula. Vancouver is still a fairly young city; therefore old mansions and monuments are not to be found. In fact, most of the building sport a modern look - a contemporary look that invites the tourist to spend many hours viewing the downtown area, including the Vancouver Art Gallery. |
